With July 1st falling on Wednesdy this year, Canada Day celebrations in South Baymouh were held on Saturday July 27th.  South Baymouth Community Development Association (SBCDA) and Municipality of Tehkummah activities included our long standing SBCDA breakfast and lunch BBQ’s, silent auction, and bake sale.

This year we added a new fund raising initiative to substitute the long standing Tehkmmah Fire Department’s yard sale with our own version, “Junk In The Trunk” held throughout the day on Saturday.  We had a good selection of merchandise to choose from with yard sale buyers making their purchases via donation as the sale was a “haggle free zone.”  For a first time event we were very pleased with the financial results.

The evening had the annual fish fry dinner at John Budd Memorial Park while the Tehkummah  Fire Department provided a good fireworks show at dusk over the water at the South Baymouth marina.  For a small community we commend the fireman for putting on a great show.

Canada Day has always been proudly displayed and enjoyed in our community.  With July 1st falling on a Wednesday this year, particiaption was down slighlty with some seasonal residents not present for a long weekend but many patrons through the day were overheard saying “we’re having fun.”

The day marked a great start to summer with more SBCDA events planned.  See the Events page of this website for more information of what’s ahead.
