This summer, South Baymouth invites residents, seasonal visitors, and travellers from near and far to join us for Chi-Cheemaun Salute Day on Saturday, August 8th.
NOTE: In support of the event, the Owen Transportation Transportation Company is once again offering a 50% discount for walk-on passengers allowing them to ride the ferry round trip from Tobermory to South Baymouth and return. Enjoy a cruise across Lake Huron on the ferry, spend the day exploring South Baymouth while enjoying Chi Cheemaun day then return to Tobermory for one low price.
What began with the 50th Anniversary of the Collingwood built Chi Cheemaun commencing service in 1974, has turned into a celebration of community spirit, family fun, and the unique character that makes South Baymouth in Tehkummah Townhsip such a special place.
Hosted by the South Baymouth Community Development Association (SBCDA), this exciting event promises to be a memorable day filled with activities, entertainment, local vendors, great food, and opportunities to connect with friends, neighbours, and visitors.
Celebrating the Heart of South Baymouth
South Baymouth has long been known as the welcoming gateway to Manitoulin Island, greeting thousands of visitors each year as they arrive aboard the Chi-Cheemaun ferry. But beyond being a destination, South Baymouth is a community built on strong relationships, shared experiences, and a commitment to working together.
Chi-Cheemaun Salute Day celebrates that spirit.
The event brings together the many things that make our community special, our waterfront location, our connection to Lake Huron and the other Great Lakes, our appreciation for local businesses and organizations, and most importantly, the people who make South Baymouth home both year round and seasonally.

Whether you appreciate vintage craftsmanship, unique designs, or simply enjoy seeing beautifully restored vehicles, the car show will be a highlight of the day.

Take time to browse local vendors, discover unique products, and support entrepreneurs and community members showcasing their talents and creativity.

Enjoy delicious food throughout the day while supporting this important community fundraiser. Sharing a meal together is one of the best ways to bring people together and celebrate community connections.

🚢 Visit from a Canadian Coast Guard Ship 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
One of the special features of this year’s celebration will be a visit from a Canadian Coast Guard ship. Guests will have the opportunity to learn more about the important work the Coast Guard does protecting Canada’s waterways and supporting communities across the country.

All funds raised from the event will help support SBCDA initiatives focused on strengthening the social, economic, cultural, and environmental fabric of South Baymouth and Tehkummah Township.
